From Raymond A. Jetson, Recovery Corps CEO
As our state begins its recovery from another devastating storm, I hope this message finds you, your families and friends safe from harm. The Louisiana Family Recovery Corps is rapidly deploying our staff and resources to respond to the needs of our citizens impacted by Hurricane Gustav.
The Recovery Corps has undertaken several critical efforts.
- We have reached out to community leaders and organizations across the state to gain insight into: (1) the needs of impacted citizens and (2) their capacity to offer disaster-related relief.
- We have expedited the availability of current resources to respond to identified needs.
- The Recovery Corps has begun development of recovery planning programs after being engaged by the Louisiana Department of Social Services.
- Recovery Corps staff have provided technical assistance to officials from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families and other agencies to determine how to best implement a federal case management pilot offered by DHHS.
- The Recovery Corps is aggressively working to identify the most pressing recovery needs of Louisiana citizens and get resources to them.
Announcements regarding recovery programs related to Hurricane Gustav will be made in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more information and encourage your colleagues to sign up for news and updates on our Web site at www.recoverycorps.org.
