Recovery Corps unveils new website, launches new Facebook and Twitter pages

BATON ROUGE, La. -- The Louisiana Family Recovery Corps unveiled its new online identity on Thursday and officially launched its new Twitter and Facebook pages to allow the agency to share a more interactive experience with its clients, partners, and online visitors.

The new Recovery Corps website, www.recoverycorps.org, features a dynamic new layout and much more information related to human recovery. It also features a more focused direction of the agency itself, with special attention paid to its core issues which include the establishment of a long-term human recovery plan for Louisiana post-evacuation and sheltering, coordination among the state's non-profit sector during and after disaster, and the various issues surrounding Louisiana's housing crisis which was exacerbated by hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, and Ike.

"We are very excited to launch our new website and our new social media technologies," said Dr. Monteic A. Sizer, President and CEO of the Recovery Corps. "As we continue to work on behalf of the people of Louisiana, it is imperative that we are more easily able to interact with our clients and constituents. These new mediums will allow for expanded interactivity and will provide our online visitors with great information and an invaluable resource pertaining to human recovery."

In addition to the agency's social media pages, key features of the new Recovery Corps website include a recovery blog, reports associated with the Recovery Corps's unique Broken Homes series, Recovery Corps research, a look at the Recovery Corps' central advocacy issues, an overview of the Recovery Corps' present and past programs, and information on how to personally get involved with the Recovery Corps.

"As we release our new website, we are provided the opportunity to once again share with the public, our clients, and our partners some of the great work that our agency has done on behalf of the people of Louisiana and also pivot toward a very exciting future," Sizer added. "There still remains much work to be done in Louisiana and the United States associated with human recovery planning, and we intend to be at the forefront of those initiatives, especially those dealing with how to maximize the use and impact of individual assistance resources. Citizens of Louisiana and our nation deserve a plan that is ready and accountable at all times should it require activation."

In other exciting news, the Recovery Corps will soon be announcing and launching a new statewide initiative called REVIVE Louisiana. Look for details about this unique initiative in the coming days and weeks, as the Recovery Corps continues its efforts to provide opportunities to those Louisianians who endeavor to see their state achieve greatness.
